Finally done with her! To lazy and to bad to draw anatomy to make a real ref for her > - <
Info: Name: Saga Myhr Race: Half-demon (Human/Neck[[link] ) Birthday: June 1st Age: 17 Gender: Female Place of Origin: Gudbrandsdalen, Norway Height: 167 cm Weight: 63 kg Eyes: Sea green Hair: Light blond Blood Type: O Affiliation: Exorcists Class: Exwire Meister Type: Knight
Appearance: Saga looks like any other Scandinavian girl. She has straight, light blonde hair down to her breasts and pale skin. Her eyes are green, which she got from her father. Saga doesn't use much time on her hair, instead letting it be as it is when she wakes up. Her hair is naturally straight and she usually has it in a low ponytail.
Saga usually wears cute and girly clothes when she's not in her uniform.
Personality: If you ever meet Saga, you'd probably think she's a typical shy girl. Well, she's not. Saga loves to make new friends all the time, and hates to fight with them. She can be quite stubborn at times and easly gets irritated, but not often. Saga gets easily tricked, because she's viable to believe in just about anything.
Abilities: Most of Saga's abilites she got from her father, except how strong she is, since she gained that on her own, through hard training.
Natural Talen on Violin. Saga is a natural talent with the violin. Everyone who hears her play will stop doing what they're doing and listen, like they're in a trance. This ability is from her father, who used it to lure people to him and drown them. Saga hates her ability, and rarely plays the violin. She also easily learns to play other instruments.
Excellent horse rider. She's excellent with horses. It's almost like she is the horse itself when riding one. This comes from her father having the ability to turn into a horse. Saga also has strong bonds with horses, and hates it when people mistreat them.
Shapeshifting: Saga has the ability to shapeshift at will. She can't change much about herself, just small things like eye colour, hair length, colour etc. In her awakened form she can shapeshift more things like bodyparts etc. Saga can't use this ability a lot, since it's difficult and takes a lot of time. She can also just change parts into what she has seen on pictures or in real life.
Breathing under water. Anoter ability from her father. Saga can breathe under water, but not for a very long time. At the moment she can just be under water without having air for one hour.
Family: Mother - Elizabeth Myhr Father - Leith
Trivia: Her name is Norse and means "seeing one".
Her kryptonite is spiders and slugs. She just hates them.
Her favourite food is any kind of sea food. She also loves sweets, except licorice.
Saga decided to become an exorcist because she wanted to learn more about the world of demons and try to meet her real father.
Her favourite genres of music are: Mostly classic and Asian pop. But she also like other genres, like rock.
She can speak Norwegian and English fluently. She's currently studying Japanese and French.
She has an amazing singing voice.
Saga plays the violin.
Her weapon is a big hammer, which she can summon (she has a seal on her left arm which she uses to summon it).
Saga is very vulnerable when it comes to electricity, ecspecially in water (DUUH).
She's really strong, since she has to lift her big hammer when she fights. Saga exercises daily.
Saga has never met her father.
Thank you SO much for helping me Ina, with the character and my englisg
I like her. She seems interesting. I like how she likes seafood. Shrimp ftw! I lurve licorice by the way, so she could give all her licorice to me =w=
My little problem is with this: The violin talent coming from her father is not very believable, and your explanation didn't really justify it. There's no such thing as a talent being genetically inherited, a talent is acquired. Just like for example, my mother played volleyball and was very good at it, but I can't play it to save my life because a talent is not part of the genetic code. However, if your character was taught to play it because her father played it, that's a whole different story.
Also, where does she get this amazing singing voice from? Did she practice, or is it just natural? And what do you mean by amazing? I'm imagining something like Adam Lambert, because he is an amazing singer, or Beyonce, because she is amazing. But everyone has a different opinion on amazing.
Haha, I really like her too~ ( lol obviously, since she is one of Sumire's students and a classmate of Yuna. XD ) I think she put a lot of effort into it, and was really creative using the Nøkken as her father. As most people use well-known demons for any half-demon heritage.
ANYHOW. I just wanted to say, since I myself understand this 'inherited talent' stuff very well personally, that talent is about a natural-born aptitude for something. A skill would be something you acquire through learning/knowledge/ and practice. Hence.. My Grandfather on my Dad's side was insanely great at all kinds of art. I never really knew him because he was out of his mind (lol) but his father (my great-grandfather) was also an amazing painter. My Dad can draw pretty well too, though he just does it randomly and not as a hobby. I, myself, learned I had a natural talent for it in High school eleven years ago in Art class when we had to draw our shoe. And it came out SO WELL that I was amazed I did it, since I never drew before in my life. And of course since then have been drawing lol. But it seems that I got that from my father's side. And according to lots of research, some talents seem to be passed down from a parent. Not everyone will inherit a talent that a parent may have, genetics are a lottery like that. But it's definitely a possibility. So her being musically inclined is not a surprise, especially with the violin. It's funny how we seem to reflect our parents, even sometimes, when we don't even know them. LOL SORRY ABOUT MY NOVEL HERE AMG I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE
I just wanted to say, that not just by definition, by my own personal experience with it, that Saga's natural aptitude isn't uncommon or impossible. And good singing voices aren't unusual either. Not by any means. AUUUGH SORRY ABOUT THE LONG COMMENT
Yeah, I find it annoying that the well-known demons are used more often than something so creative like a Neck(?) Although to be honest, when I first read it I thought it was a spelling error. Until I went and searched it up xD
I know you're trying to prove something by using a personal story, but my argument stands: Yes, it's okay to have a natural aptitude for something. However, just because this character's father is good at playing the violin will not guarantee that she also will be good at playing it. There is no such thing as a talent popping up out of thin air. Like I said before, if ~Marie8D had said that her character practiced playing really hard at playing the violin because her father played it, then it wouldn't be so unbelievable. But biology has completely disproved the whole "inherited talent" theory. You can only acquire a talent, not inherit it. And that's exactly the way ~Marie8D explained it, which is wrong. For example, just because your grandfather and father were good at drawing does not guarantee you will also be good or better. It all depends on the practice.
And with the singing thing, it's unoriginal. I've seen hundreds of OCs with this useless talent. To put it simply, it's a waste of space. The fact that this OC "has an amazing singing voice" gives no insight into her character whatsoever. There's no point to it other than to give this OC more than one talent. Honestly, it's boring. The author could've given her a way more creative talent that actually matches her personality. If ~Marie8D had a more interesting story to how her OC can sing so "amazingly", then I would be up for reading it. I know it's not uncommon to have a great singing voice, but as far as I can tell, it's the same thing as with the violin playing. She can be good, but a talent is useless unless it's refined. It's plain bad writing to just be good at something without even a little practice.
Yes, I love seafood. Though I prefer it in pasta or in bread (lolwhut how does that even work)
Haha. XD I guess we can agree to disagree. But I have to say that I fully understand that just because a parent has an innate talent does not in any form guarantee that their child will inherit it. There is a chance they won't, and a chance they will. Not everything is a talent either-- I know that. Most things are skills which are learned through observation/practice/knowledge.
ANYHOW. I think it makes absolute perfect sense since she is the child of the Nøkken, that she would inherit the natural ability to play the violin. The violin is the way he lures his prey to him, by playing the violin! And with something so key to his lore, it makes sense that a child of the Nøkken would play violin, and it was just be a natural thing to her.
And sure. Singing is common. Mainstream. Popular. Useless. But wasn't it placed under trivia, which is essentially, 'useless information'? XD SO she's like every other person. Isn't the problem with most OCs is they have abilities or skills that are just too outlandish? I think she sounds like a well-rounded, normal individual. I think that's why I like her. c:
But please, I really don't want to argue. Not in the least. <3
Ah no, I never meant to argue. It was just my opinion because I'm a big stickler for proper biology and such. And I also think it makes perfect sense that she has the same talent. Just a small detail that bugged me 's all.
I never realized it's been proven either way, I though it was still debatable/theoretical? Last I knew, anyway. And I am glad we're not arguing. c: I don't like to be on bad terms with any one. I'm kind of a pacifist/neutral type. ^^
